When a component reaches the end of its life cycle or is simply no longer required, it may be 'retired'. You can only retire components that are "In Use". Retiring a component prevents the component from being added to any future packages. Retiring a component does not affect any existing associations the component has, in other words existing packages and orders containing that component are not affected.
NB. Retiring a component cannot be undone. Once a component is retired, it cannot be edited or re-published.
To retire a component
- Navigate to the Catalog zone.
- Click on the Components tab.
- On the Component List screen, select the component you wish to retire. NB. The component must be In Use.
- On the component details screen, click the Retire link.
- A confirmation pop-up is displayed. Click "Retire" to proceed.
The component is retired. It can no longer be associated with future packages. Existing packages that contain the component are not affected however.
