The component is updated.

Editing In Use/Retired Components

When a package is published, all components attached to that package are set to "In Use". Editing an "In Use" component is useful if you need to make minor tweaks to your components, such as correct spelling errors or improve the naming conventions of variations and variation options.

NB. When editing an "In Use" or "Retired" component, be aware that the component may be actively used in one or more packages. Editing any of the component details therefore affects all past and future package purchases that contain the component. We recommend that any edits are restricted to grammatical errors such as spelling mistakes and label changes.

Retiring a component does not remove it from existing published packages, it simply prevents you including that component in future packages you may wish to publish. Therefore, a Retired component may still be used by one or more packages and therefore changes you make can affect past and future package purchases.

In the following example, a customer has purchased a package that contains a 'Carpet Steam Clean' component. The name of the component is then changed to 'Quik-Dri Steam Clean' and the customer's order is updated with the new name.

You can edit the following for an In Use component:

  • Component Code
